Mr Olle led a chorus of tributes, which continued to flood in yesterday. The AFL has confirmed players and fans will observe a minute's silence before both semifinal clashes this weekend.
The club is also considering raising a memorial banner in his honour.
New Carlton coach Mick Malthouse said McCarthy's death "put things into perspective".
"It's one of those moments, I guess, where you come to realise that being an AFL footballer doesn't give you an immunity to tragedies.
"A lot of the boys would like to think that they wear a Superman suit around, but unfortunately that's not the case and it brings things back to reality."
Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said he was sure that McCarthy would be fondly remembered.
"You deal with it as best you possibly can and you rally around each other. Everyone is feeling it in some way or another so you can only draw together and look after one another," Buckley said.
Arriving in Las Vegas last night, Port Adelaide football operations manager Peter Rohde said McCarthy was a popular player whose loss would hit his family and the Power playing group hard.
