I've been attending events, conferences, even political rallies lately, and have been documenting everything with a few choice handheld digital recording devices. I've also purchased additional devices to cover all my multimedia bases.
Here is my list of digital equipment.
Nikon Coolpix L18I've been using a Nikon Coolpix L18, an upgrade from an earlier model and purchased for under $150. It offers 8 megapixel resolution so the photos are crisp and bright. It is amazing how much difference in image quality a megapixel or two can make. The antishake feature in this camera is incredible for still images. I find myself extending my arm out to take photos as I'm walking and none of them appear blurry from the movement.
The FlipAs with many handheld digital cameras, My Nikon Coolpix also has video capabilities and the better image resolution positively affects video quality as well. However, when it comes to a handy, easytouse video camera that literally fits into your pocket, I'm gaga over the Flip. For a little consumergrade point and shoot video camera, the quality of the video and sound is quite good more than satisfactory for the Web.
I've had a Flip from a year ago but the upgraded model is called the Ultra. The "top of the line" version is called the Mino and is under $160. The neat thing about the Flip is that it is totally selfcontained. Not only does it house it's own editing and compression software, it has a built in USB adapter to plug directly into your PC or Mac computer.
